KPM X STEFAN SZCZESNY
Stefan Szczesny is one of the leading figures of the “Young Wild Ones,” a movement that emerged in the 1980s as a counter-movement to the conceptual and minimalist art that dominated the art world at the time. Born in Munich in 1951, the artist now lives and works in Saint-Tropez, following creative periods in Paris and New York. The fact that art does not always have to deal with the depths of despair but may also celebrate life is evident in the life-affirming and decorative lightness of his works. As a painter, sculptor, and draftsman, his subjects include expressive forms and colors—such as stylized flowers, Mediterranean fruits, and beautiful female figures. For the “ Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur ” in Berlin, he is applying these designs by hand to KPM’s iconic designs (the “Atrium” floor vase, the “HALLE 3” vase, the “ Löberschale ,” and the “To-go” mug).
