A FAITHFUL RE-EDITION

VENUS & MERCURY

With “Venus” and “Mercury,” the Berlin-based “ Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur ” presents a meticulously detailed re-edition of historic model designs that bring the company’s royal heritage into the present day. Created in porcelain in 1780 by KPM modeler Johann Georg Müller, these pieces are reminiscent of the marble figures that adorn the gardens of Sanssouci as a symbol of the friendship between King Louis XV and King Frederick II.

A TRIBUTE TO THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN TWO KINGS

As gifts from King Louis XV of France to Friedrich , the Great, the original marble statues found their place in Sanssouci Park in 1752. Friedrich , the Great, was delighted and expressed his gratitude to the French king.In this meticulously detailed re-edition from the KPM modeling workshop, the manufactory’s master painters use an elaborate hand-painting technique to create a perfect illusion of black marble with elegant polished gold accents.
